People matter most. We're a team of migrants and locals, young, old, skilled, unskilled, man and woman.

Together we build community spaces with and for people to feel welcome and connected.

People fleeing war and disasters, people without a place to stay, people who feel isolated from or forgotten by the society. Together we built. Meet the team(s).

Narda Beunders

As a child, I was surrounded by a diversity of people from different cultures. This showed me the beauty of living together and being curious towards the other.

Appreciation and a safe home have brought me a lot. Especially the space to develop myself in a free, often impulsive way, made it possible to work in many different places in the world as a building architect.

Znar Agha

I have a lot of affinity with the subject of refugees, which is why I have worked for IOM and UNHCR in the past. Together with my colleagues we received Syrian and Iraqi refugees / IDPs in Iraq-Kurdistan. In this period I was mainly working in the refugee camps.

Until today, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I have been given to have done this work.I therefore hope that my experience will add value to the tasks that lie within Roof for Humanity.

Learning from other cultures gives you a broader perspective. Being curious and looking into the world with an open mind, asking myself why we or they do what we/they do, is something I do from an early age.

Within Roof for Humanity I would like to use my knowledge and expertise by share this with 'these' displaced people to make life a bit more beautiful. Together!

I have always been curious about what other cultures and perspectives can teach us. Moving to the Netherlands from the US gave me a new lens to view my own cultural assumptions and ways of communicating.

I found A Roof for Humanity while working on my thesis which looks at how the built environment shapes our sense of belonging. Actively building and learning together with Roof for Humanity gives an extra dimension to discussions of what it means to belong and how we can create meaningful spaces where everyone is welcome to come as they are.
